Frequently asked questions about medical weight loss
Answers about the treatment, the medicines and what you can expect from us. Is your question not listed? Our doctors will answer it during the consultation, in English or Dutch.
The cost depends on the medication and the dosage. At Qlinic you pay a monthly amount that covers the medication, needles, delivery and medical support. There are no hidden costs or annual contracts. You can stop or pause at any time at no extra cost.
All Qlinic doctors are BIG-registered (you can check this at bigregister.nl; the BIG register is the Dutch register of healthcare professionals). We are supervised by the Inspectie Gezondheidszorg en Jeugd (IGJ, the Dutch Health and Youth Care Inspectorate). Medication comes from the official manufacturers through certified Dutch pharmacies, not from grey-market imports. Our doctors are shown on the website with their photo and full name.
All of them can cause nausea, diarrhoea or constipation, especially in the first few weeks. Because of its dual action, Mounjaro causes stomach and bowel complaints slightly more often, but the difference is small. Most people adjust within 2–4 weeks. Your doctor increases the dose gradually to limit side effects.
Medical weight loss with injections is an option from a BMI of 30, or from a BMI of 27 if you also have another health condition (comorbidity) such as high blood pressure, prediabetes, sleep apnoea or high cholesterol. If your BMI is below this, it is a good idea to discuss it with the doctor. During the free consultation, the doctor assesses whether medical weight loss with injections is safe and suitable for your situation. Your current medication and medical history are also taken into account.
In studies, people lose an average of 10–15% of their starting weight within 6–12 months. With a starting weight of 100 kg, that means 10–15 kg. Individual results vary: some people lose more, others less. Your doctor monitors your progress every 2 weeks and makes adjustments where needed.

Mounjaro reduces hunger and strengthens the feeling of fullness by mimicking two hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). In studies, people lost an average of 15–20% of their body weight. The main benefit: you feel less hungry and naturally stop eating sooner. That makes it easier to keep going than with traditional diets.

After your medical consultation, Mounjaro is delivered to your home with needles and instructions. You inject it under your skin once a week. The medication reduces your hunger, so you automatically eat less. Combine this with healthier choices (less processed food, more exercise) for the best results.
